GOAT PROJECT

We developed  a microfinance-style goat scheme, where goats (instead of money) were loaned to the schools to breed and then sold as meat. The flowchart below shows our current plan:

Impacts
1 Education: At Gaichanjiru, teachers are already using the Kenterprise microgoating concept in the curriculum to teach pupils about business and agriculture.

2 Entrepreneurial: Headmasters & teachers become small-scale entrepreneurs.

3 Empowerment: The original MASH scheme has yielded one goat at each school, equivalent to 10 KSCE revision guides.

4 Nutrition: The new goats are capable of producing milk to address a further need of the school: pupil nutrition.
